Run to the Sun 2025

The Run to the Sun Car Show brought us to Myrtle Beach for a weekend centered around one of the largest classic automotive gatherings on the East Coast.

Arrival in Myrtle Beach

We arrived in Myrtle Beach the night before the show and stepped into the atmosphere of the coast. Myrtle Beach carries a steady energy shaped by the ocean nearby, the movement of the city, and the anticipation of the weekend.

That night, we went to Old Benjamin’s Seafood Buffet.

It was an entire themed environment built around a ship concept. Inside, partial-scale pirate ships were built into the interior, creating a cinematic feel throughout the space.

The restaurant included a game room, a children’s play area, a formal dining space, and 11 themed dining rooms, each with its own design and atmosphere.

In the basement, a ship-building studio displayed and produced replica model ships.

A thank you goes to the staff at Old Benjamin’s Seafood Buffet for the hospitality. It became part of the memory of the trip.

Morning in Myrtle Beach

We woke up the next morning in a condo overlooking the city of Myrtle Beach.

From the windows, the city stretched out as morning light filled the sky. Once we stepped outside, the coastline came into view.

We walked down to the shoreline and watched the sun rise over the pier, as captured in our photos.

Before heading to the show, we stopped at a small breakfast café beside the condo and had a simple breakfast in a quiet coastal setting.

The Scale of the Show

At the Run to the Sun Car Show, 3,200 classic cars filled the grounds of the old mall in Myrtle Beach.

The lineup included Corvettes, Camaros, Roadrunners, Rancheros, El Caminos, 1938 Ford trucks, monster trucks, rare custom builds, and race-inspired builds with classic foundations.

Some vehicles reached values over $400,000, including rare Shelby models and detailed restoration builds. Others were one-of-one custom projects defined by craftsmanship and creativity.

The People Behind the Cars

What stood out just as much as the vehicles were the people.

We met builders, engineers, collectors, and lifelong enthusiasts. Each person had their own reason for being there, and each car reflected that story in a different way.

Some builds represented years of dedication. Others were lifelong visions brought to life.

Every conversation came back to the connection between people and the vehicles they create, restore, and preserve.

The Story That Stayed With Us

One of the most meaningful moments of the entire weekend came from a Ford Ranchero owner we met at the show.

During our conversation, he told us:

“This will be my final car show.”

It came from a place of reflection on a long life and the understanding that this trip was his moment to experience the show one last time the way he wanted to.

He brought the Ford Ranchero with him, wanting to enjoy the event fully and close that chapter on a high note surrounded by something he loved.

We filmed an interview with him and captured his vehicle, planning to release the feature at a later date.

After the event, his son reached out and shared that the time spent with KF Media and the interview itself was one of the highlights of his father’s trip—something he truly looked forward to and appreciated.

Because of that, we will be releasing the footage in the future, in a way that honors the memory of the moment and the importance of the experience shared.

Reflection

The Run to the Sun Car Show is defined by the people, the conversations, and the moments that stay with you long after the weekend ends.

We came expecting to document vehicles.

We left carrying stories and memories.

This reflects the reality that some of the people we meet become part of moments that stay with you long after the event ends.

There is a responsibility in that—being present, capturing it honestly, and making sure it is not lost when the day is over. What we take with us is not just what we saw, but what was shared, and it becomes our responsibility to carry those stories forward and do right by them.

In automotive culture, those stories are what give every car meaning beyond the build.

The Run to the Sun Car Show is something that deserves to be seen at least once in a lifetime.

Every single car carries a story—stories that sometimes outlast the moment they were created in, and in some cases, outlast the people who built them.
